Flower Seed Pack Ritual + Sowing Directions

It’s always fun to plant your seeds with intention, as there’s something so magical about the whole process of growing things! Each seed carries potential for beauty, transformation, and new beginnings.
At Flora Mystica flower farm we believe that even small acts, like planting seeds, can hold meaning. We also love to honour the beauty and symbolism of the natural world. Inspired by our tagline, “sharing the magic of flowers”, we invite you to follow this simple little optional ritual to bring intention, wonder, and a little magic into your garden.
Seed Planting Ritual
Equipment
Seeds + crystals
Potting soil
Pot or container to plant in (or plant straight into your garden!)
Watering can with water
Plant tag or label + pen
Small slip of paper (optional)
Steps:
1. Assemble all of your equipment. Fill your pot or container with moistened soil. Check planting directions (found below on this page) for the type of flower seed you are planting for advice on the best approach!
2. Pause and breathe. Take your seeds and crystals out of the packet and hold them in your hands. Take a few slow, deep breaths as you connect with their energies. Notice if anything comes to mind.
3. Set your intention. Think about what you’d like to grow this season – not just in your garden, but within yourself. You might even like to write your intention down on a slip of paper, to be planted right along with your seeds!
4. Plant with intention. Following the instructions for growing your flower seeds, plant each seed and repeat your intention in your mind or out loud. Now is a great time to plant the paper you have written your intention on also, if you are following that step! Write the name of the flower on the plant tag so you can remember what you have planted where.
5. Plant your crystals somewhere close to your seeds if you wish, or keep them nearby or with you as a reminder of the intention you planted.
6. Water and nurture. Gently water your seeds and care for the young plants as they emerge and grow, and from time to time allow them to remind you of your intention and the magic of flowers!
Cosmos Planting Directions
Let intuition lead you to bloom
This seed pack is a colourful variety of our flower farm favourite “double click” mix!
Plant type: Annual
Sun: Full sun
Planting depth: 1/4 inch deep
Spacing: 10-12 inches apart
Germination: 7-14 days
Days to bloom: Approximately 75-90 days
When to plant: direct sow outdoors after danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed, or start indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost.
Water: Moderate water; avoid overwatering once established.
Growing tips: Cosmos are easy to grow flowers that thrive in average soil and bloom abundantly through summer and fall. Regular harvesting or deadheading encourages more flowers and airy branching growth.
Crystal: Amethyst is a crystal of calm and spiritual clarity and it reminds you to trust your inner wisdom.
Nasturtium Planting Directions
Grow Wild and Free
These seeds are a mix of some of our favourite types of nasturtium!
Plant type: Annual
Sun: Full sun to part shade
Planting depth: ½ - 1 inch deep
Spacing: 8-12 inches apart
Germination: 7-14 days
Days to bloom: Approximately 50-70 days
When to plant: direct sow outdoors after danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed, or start indoors 2-4 weeks before last frost.
Water: Water regularly until established; avoid overly rich soil.
Growing tips: Nasturtiums are easy to grow and thrive in average soil. Too much fertilizer may produce more leaves than flowers. Both the flowers and the leaves are edible and attract pollinators to the garden.
Crystal: Peridot inspires a fresh outlook, regeneration, and balanced energy.
Sunflower Planting Directions
Turn toward the light
This is a mix of a few of our favourite types of sunflowers!
Plant type: Annual
Sun: Full sun
Planting depth: ½ - 1 inch deep
Spacing: 8-12 inches apart
Germination: 7-14 days
Days to bloom: Approximately 70-90 days
When to plant: direct sow outdoors (preferred) after danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed, or start indoors 2-3 weeks before last frost.
Water: Keep evening moist during germination and water throughout the summer when the soil has dried.
Growing tips: Sunflowers grow best in warm, sunny locations with well-drained soil. They love to grow near a fence or other structure.
Crystal: Citrine is traditionally associated with joy, abundance, confidence, and radiant energy.
Sweet Pea Planting Directions
Let your love grow
This is a fragrant mix of sweet peas that will add charm to your garden!
Plant type: Annual
Sun: Full sun. We have found that they love morning sun and afternoon shade!
Planting depth: 1 inch deep
Spacing: 4-6 inches apart
Germination: 7-21 days
Days to bloom: Approximately 75-90 days
When to plant: direct sow outdoors in early spring as soon as soil can be worked, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost.
Support needed: provide a trellis or support for them to climb.
Water: Keep soil evenly moist.
Growing tips: Sweet peas thrive in cool weather and appreciate rich well-drained soil. Regular harvesting of the blooms encourages the plants to keep flowering all season.
Crystal: Rose quartz is a soft and nurturing energy, and it symbolizes love, compassion, and heartfelt connection.
Zinnia Planting Directions
Let your joy blossom
Our zinnia seed mix includes several of the favourite zinnia colours and types we grow at the farm. Great for cutting!

Planting depth: 1/4 inch deep
Spacing: 9-12 inches apart
Germination: 3-10 days
Days to bloom: Approximately 75-90 days
When to plant: direct sow outdoors after danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed, or start indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost.
Water: Water regularly until established.
Growing tips: Zinnias thrive in warm weather and bloom continuously with regular harvesting or deadheading. These are taller varieties of zinnias that benefit from pinching when young to encourage branching and more blooms (“pinching” simple means to snip off the central growing tip above a set of leaves once the plants are 8-12 inches tall. This encourages fuller zinnia plants with more flowers.) Zinnias are very cold and frost sensitive.
Crystal: Carnelian carries warm, energizing qualities connected to creativity, motivation, and inspired personal growth.
